"Is Your House Right for a Solarium?"

Sunrooms (also known as solariums) are relatively easy and affordable alterations that you can make to your home. Not only will solariums vastly improve the property value of your house, but they are also extremely enjoyable in their own right.

What are Solariums?
Solariums (derived from the word "solar") are rooms that have been altered to let in more sunlight. Usually, a contractor eliminates large portions of the ceiling or wall and replaces them with glass or industrial strength plastic. Homeowners often use these areas as family rooms or internal gardens. So, no matter the weather, you can still commune with nature without getting wet or dirty. Such jobs are usually custom-made, so you'll need to contact an actual solarium designer for pricing. However, you can rest assured that the asking price for your house will rise significantly when it comes time to sell.

But My House Can’t Support a Solarium
A conservatory is another affordable option that many homeowners consider. Conservatories differ from sunrooms in that the former are usually extra rooms attached to the house, rather than a change made to an existing room. Like solariums, conservatories are usually made of glass supported by metal frames. They offer the same advantage: you have access to the great outdoors all year round, plus an extra pocket of air to further insulate your home during the cold months. And like solariums, conservatories increase the property value of your house, resulting in a higher selling price.
