Which
Satellite
TV
Provider
is
Right
for
Me?

Every
satellite
TV
provider
offers
something
a
little
different,
so
before
you
subscribe
to
just
any
provider,
be
sure
it's
the
best
option
for
you.
DirecTV
DirecTV
operates
four
satellites.
It
is
the
largest
satellite
TV
provider.
It
offers
a
large
selection
of
channels
and
packages,
with
a
limited
selection
of
high
definition
(HD)
channels.
To
receive
DirecTV,
you
must
be
a
resident
of
the
continental
U.S.,
Alaska,
or
Hawaii.
DirecTV
typically
carries
more
sports
packages,
and
it
is
the
only
provider
of
out-of-market
NFL
football.
It
is
also
currently
the
only
provider
offering
satellite
Internet
access.
DISH
Network
DISH
Network's
fleet
of
nine
satellites
allows
them
to
offer
the
largest
selection
of
channels
of
any
major
satellite
TV
provider.
Like
DirecTV,
the
selection
of
HD
channels
offered
by
DISH
is
limited,
but
growing.
To
receive
service
from
DISH
Network,
you
must
live
in
the
continental
U.S.,
Alaska,
Hawaii,
or
Puerto
Rico.
Because
DISH
and
DirecTV
operate
from
slightly
different
orbital
positions,
you
may
be
forced
to
use
one
service
or
the
other.
VOOM
VOOM
has
only
been
around
since
2003,
and
only
operates
one
satellite,
but
it
also
offers
over
30
HD
channels
-
the
most
of
any
provider.
Because
the
picture
on
HDTV
is
far
superior
to
that
of
regular
television,
diehard
HD
fans
may
prefer
VOOM.
For
this
provider,
you
must
be
a
resident
of
the
continental
U.S.
only,
and
you
must
have
an
HD-ready
television
or
integrated
HDTV.
Before
you
subscribe,
do
your
homework
to
make
sure
that
the
satellite
TV
provider
you
choose
can
give
you
everything
you're
looking
for.
